Princess Anne is rushed to hospital with head injuries after ‘horse-related accident’
Princess Anne has been rushed to hospital after suffering head injuries and a concussion following a horse-related incident.
Buckingham Palace confirmed that the Princess Royal, 73, had been injured and was taken to hospital for treatment.
They added that her brother, King Charles III, had also been notified.
The Palace confirmed in a statement: “The Princess Royal has sustained minor injuries and concussion following an incident on the Gatcombe Park estate yesterday evening.
“Her Royal Highness remains in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, as a precautionary measure for observation and is expected to make a full and swift recovery.”
They added that King Charles “joins the whole Royal Family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to The Princess for a speedy recovery.”
Princess Anne is said to have been injured by a horse while on a walk through the grounds of the royal residence on Sunday evening.

According to reports from the New York Post, she was left with minor wounds to her head that are consistent with an impact from a horse’s head or legs.
Reports state that emergency services treated the Princess at the scene before she was transported to the nearby Southmead Hospital in Bristol, where she underwent further tests and treatment.
She currently remains in the hospital under observation but is expected to make a full recovery.
Princess Anne, who is the only daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, is expected to be discharged from hospital later in the week.
Her husband, Sir Timothy Laurence, her daughter Zara Tindall and son Peter Phillips, were all on the estate when the incident occurred.
Her spokesperson said in a follow-up statement: “Her Royal Highness is recovering well, is in a comfortable condition, and is being kept in hospital as a precautionary measure for further observation.”
Her royal engagements have been canceled for the rest of the week, with her having been due to participate in a State Visit this week, before heading on a official trip to Canada at the end of the week, which has also been put on hold.
Her spokesperson added: “On doctors’ advice, Her Royal Highness’s engagements for the week ahead will be postponed.
“Her Royal Highness sends her apologies to any who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result.”
It is not known if Princess Anne had been riding the horse at the time of the accident, or walking nearby.
The Princess Royal is an accomplished horserider, having won the individual European Three-Day Event at Burghley in 1971, as well as representing Great Britain in the 1976 Olympics in Montreal.
She continues to ride in many official engagements, including earlier this month when she appeared on horseback during the King’s Trooping the Colour ceremony.
